Trips & Excursions

Throughout the year a diverse set of trips and excursions are organised for all year groups as we feel they propose a valuable extension of the classroom and benefit the pupils both academically and socially.

In keeping with our curriculum we believe that school trips, which are organised within a safe and fun environment, afford pupils the perfect opportunity to face real life experiences and in doing so can contribute significantly to their own personal development.

Typical annual trips outside of the school grounds include:

Reception exploring the grounds at Painshill Park

Year 1 visiting the interactive exhibits at the Look Out Discovery Centre

Year 2 going back in time to the world of the Celts and Romans at Butser Ancient Farm

Year 3 studying excavations at Fishbourne Roman Palace

Year 4 observing wolves and learning about their behaviour at the Wolf Centre

Year 5 experiencing through drama and role play a Victorian Classroom at the Museum of Reading

Year 6 visiting the D-Day beaches in Normandy on their week long residential trip

Year 7 reviewing contemporary sculptures at Roche Court

Year 8 watching the English National Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker

We also offer a number of activities during the school holidays, which in 2008/2009 included an inland canal trip during the Michaelmas half term, a school skiing trip during the Eater half term and a charity walk across the Isle of Man to raise money for Balla Africa.
