Daneshill School

School Ethos

Two young boys studying a world map

Daneshilll has a very happy atmosphere that can be attributed to the sensitive and sensible way in which the staff teach the children. The success of the school's broad based curriculum can be measured by the involvement of pupils in a wide range of activities and opportunities.

Academic achievement is high but will vary from pupil to pupil as the expectation must be realistic for each individual. Self-esteem is a crucial factor for every pupil. The school, therefore, reflects the needs of the pupils as well as the clear aims and objectives of its procedures.

Teaching groups are small. On average there are 12 pupils to every teacher. In addition the Pre-Prep is generously staffed with classroom assistants.

This favourable staff / pupil ratio affords teachers the opportunity to know the children well, to understand their individual needs and to provide the appropriate levels of support during the learning process.

Daneshill pupils are enthusiastic learners who benefit from a stimulating school environment at an age where learning can be exciting and this encourages the children to work hard because they enjoy all aspects of a balanced curriculum.

Discipline is based on common sense values, which develop a mutual respect between pupils, peers and teachers alike. Children respond to the expectations that we have of them and the school is quick to acknowledge every positive achievement, however insignificant it may appear to be at the time.

The children at Daneshill possess a self-confidence and natural carefree joy, which makes them a pleasure to teach. Each of them is a living testament to our belief that self-esteem is crucial to their development and success. We are also justifiably proud of the way our pupils exude courtesy, honesty, warmth and respect for others. They develop responsible attitudes to learning and life, and are a credit to themselves and their families.
