Nursery garden

April 2002 saw the dawn of a new era at Daneshill when the doors of the brand new, purpose built, nursery were opened. The building has its own facilities, an enclosed play area with a hard area for bikes and a grassed area with climbing frames and slides. There is also a wooden play house, sand pits, water trays and flower beds.

The nursery takes children from approximately 2 ½ years old until the summer before they join reception at the age of 4 years old. The daily sessions run from 8.30am to 12 noon or 8.30am to 3.20pm. There is also a crèche facility until 4.10pm.

There are a variety of activities on offer which encompass the Early Years Foundation stage. The curriculum is very much play based and is designed to encourage independence. A great emphasis is placed on the social and emotional development of the children through interaction with their peers. There are twelve continual areas of learning within the whole nursery, both indoors and outdoors, which offer a broad range of experiences thus enabling development to take place through guided and independent play experiences.

The nursery children have access to specialist teachers in P.E., gym, music and at an appropriate age, swimming. The children travel through a range of experiences, which build their confidence and develop their interests’ one stage after the next. All of this takes place in a setting that offers the safety and encouragement required to stimulate and develop young minds.
