Daneshill School

New Head Appointed

Mr Andrew Hammond

It is my great pleasure to announce that Mr Andrew Hammond MA, BA (Hons) QTS has been appointed Headmaster of Daneshill School from September 2012.

Mr Hammond has worked at a number of Preparatory Schools in a variety of roles including Head of English & Drama, Director of Studies and Deputy Head. He is the founder and lead author of the Independent Curriculum, and has authored over thirty educational books for a range of publishers.

His passion for education has seen him appear as a guest speaker at a number of educational conferences throughout the UK, most recently at Wellington, Charterhouse, Marlborough, Cheltenham and Dulwich. In addition to this he has served as an IAPS English coordinator, and an ISEB Common Entrance setter; he also holds an MA in Creativity in Education.

Mr Hammond is undoubtedly a leading figure in the educational development for Independent Preparatory Schools, and his decision to align his philosophy and values to the Headship at Daneshill is very exciting for all concerned. The hopes and aspirations of Daneshill resonate with him and, in his own words, he will work hard to preserve the wonderful legacy of the School whilst ensuring we remain at the forefront of education.

Another compelling reason for appointing him is that he and I have a shared vision for preserving the innocence, wonder and creativity of childhood that is central to the Daneshill ethos.

Mr Hammond joins the School with his wife Andrea and their four children: Henry (Y7 from Sept 2012), Eleanor (Y5), Edward (Y3) and Katherine (Reception). We very much look forward to welcoming them all to Daneshill.
