Our broad based curriculum provides a good balance between formal and informal learning. It reflects all the new techniques and opportunities, combined with the traditionally proven methods based upon a sound grounding in the three R’s.

Core academic subjects are taught by the form tutor until the end of Year 3, however all year groups from Reception upwards have specialist teaching in Music, Swimming, Gymnastics and team sports and also put on an annual dramatic production for parents.

From Year 4 upwards, specialist subject teaching becomes the norm. The children benefit from a truly broad and inspiring curriculum and their weekly timetable includes English, Mathematics, Science (in our new state-of-the-art laboratories) History, Geography, Religious Education, French, Latin, Music, Art, Drama, Reasoning and Sport (including weekly swimming lessons).

Setting for subjects is common in the senior year groups and Years 7 and 8 benefit from bespoke preparation for senior schools through extra scholarship sessions and our unique Adventure, Leadership and Service programme.

Each half term, the school places two ‘subjects in the spotlight’ to show the cross-curricular links between them and to give the children the necessary context for their studies.
