Latin is such an important and interesting language that develops the understanding of the English language and also underpins many Romance languages. It helps students to apply their knowledge in different ways and the study of the ancient world allows students to learn from the history of ancient civilisations.

The curriculum at Daneshill helps the pupils to enhance their knowledge of English grammar and the irregularity of it. The pupils can also expand their English vocabulary in the Latin classroom when we look at English derivations from Latin words.

The syllabus allows the pupils to explore the history and culture of the Romans alongside their linguistic studies which provides a cross-curricular link between Art, History and Drama. These topics can sometimes include presentation work, group work and independent study.

The aim of Latin at Daneshill is to bring alive the Latin language and Roman culture, alongside learning essential grammar for their potential learning of Latin in the future.
