A Roaring Good Time

What are the similarities with the 1920s, when Britain had survived the Spanish Flu and the Great War, and the 2020s? Back then, there was boundless hope and a new wave of optimism. The ‘Bright Young Things’ craved freedom, new ideas and excitement. Our Year 8 leavers gave a glimpse of what life might be like when we are free to party again by treating their parents to a ‘Roaring Twenties’ evening cabaret of entertainment. They performed scenes, songs and dances from a variety of 1920s musicals, ranging from flappers and dapper chaps to gangsters and molls. The sports hall was transformed into a ‘Speakeasy’, creating an atmosphere of ritzy glitz and glamour, ensuring everyone had a simply ripping time!
